How to use the range calculator
- Pick a mode for each seat: Hand for specific cards, Range for a grid, Random for an unknown player.
- Paint the grid by clicking or dragging. Pairs run down the diagonal, suited hands sit above it and offsuit hands below it. The counter shows how many of the 1,326 combinations you selected.
- Use the Top X% presets for quick opening ranges, or type a range in the text box and press Tab.
- Add a board and dead cards. The equity of each seat updates after a short simulation.
Reading range equity
Equity against a range tells you how a hand performs on average across everything an opponent could hold. Preflop, A♠K♠ has about 51% against a tight 3-betting range of 22+, AJs+, KQs, AQo+ and roughly 65% against a random hand. Postflop, the same idea shows how the board texture changes things: on A♦7♣2♠ the same AK jumps above 80% against that range because most of it is now dominated.
For bluff-catching, compare your hand with the range an opponent bets with on the river; if your equity is above the pot odds requirement, the call is correct. For range advantage, compare your whole preflop range with the caller’s on a given flop: the side with more equity can usually bet more often and larger. And to study charts, load an opening range from the preflop charts and see how a 3-bet range fares against it.
